Meanwhile, on the OTHER computer, there's an incomplete collection of most of the original files. Thankfully, I'm security savvy enough to maintain a regular local backup as well as cloud backup. I've had to use my local backup to restore all my files. Of hundreds of folders in my research files collection, ALL but 10 of those folders were plain old DELETED! GONE! How is that even possible? And I've verified this three times. If I use Box Sync to sync between those two Macs via my Box backup, you'd think that would be dirt simple. I want my research files there as well, of course. Those that I want access to immediately are kept directly on my main Mac, a MacBook Pro. I maintain a huge collection of files as research. Therefore, for Mac users and for those who want a real syncing program, look elsewhere! Box is NOT what you want. That means a lot of Mac file names are NO GO. This is expressed specifically in the inability to use anything but DOS approved characters in names. Plus, Box is entirely oriented toward Windows users, NOT MAC USERS. But whenever I attempt to actually SYNC with it to another of my Macs, the result is nothing less than UTTER DISASTER! I've decided to write this up here as the utter disaster is entirely repeatable and I know of no way to stop it. I gratefully use it every day for backups.
